Through its Capvis I, Capvis II and Capvis III funds, Capvis invests a total of some EUR 1bn in well-positioned midsize firms headquartered in Switzerland, Germany or Austria.
These investments are typically a part of succession solutions, corporate spin-offs, shareholder buyouts or the provision of expansion capital. As a general rule, Capvis invests in companies with a turnover of between EUR 50 and 500 m, and prefers to acquire a majority stake.
Our portfolio of transactions since 1990 bears witness to the experience of the Capvis team and our leading position in Switzerland.
We aim to identify strategic values in leading companies, to take substantial equity stakes, to support management move the company to a new level of excellence and to thereby achieve an excellent return on the capital employed.
Turnarounds are not part of our investment strategy.
Capvis invests a minimum of about EUR 20 - 100m in each equity operation.
Active participation on the Board of Directors, Supervisory Board and/or Advisory Board is a part of how we see our business, allowing us to contribute directly to the development of the firms we invest in.
Capvis usually invests for a period of 4-6 years. Working in consultation with the management, we then prepare the transition to a new shareholder structure. This is frequently achieved by going public or by selling our stake to a strategic partner.
